Welcome to my new project - a food blog.
I love to cook, to discover and try new recipes. I grew up in a home where we made everything from scratch, from bread to vinaigrettes to yogurt and I truly appreciate good quality food. As a creative person, blending flavours and textures is a part of a creative process for me. Also, in a world where you can't trust "the Man" (who puts mysterious stuff in your food), knowing what is in my food and where it comes from is important to me. The trend in eating local, natural, pesticide-free foods is increasing and hopefully it bodes well for our health and our environment.
If you're afraid this blog will only consist of salads and green smoothies, never fear. I still eat things like bananas (definitely not local), and make things like chocolate mousse (definitely not healthy). There will be deliciously UN-healthy recipes on this blog. I do believe in moderation! But, eating more local and healthy food that I cook myself is definitely my goal.
The reason I decided to make a blog and not simply cook privately in my kitchen is that I think more and more people would like to learn how to make healthy foods but just don't know how. Sometimes lack of time, lack of skill and lack of resources can stand in the way. However, I hope to write in such a way as to make easy, healthy recipes that I love accessible to anyone who would like to partake. Any recipe added to a cook's repertoire is a good step in the right direction!
For me the kitchen is the heart of the home, and nothing stacks up to home-cooking for creating a loving environment for those sharing a meal together. Not to mention better taste, quality and price! This blog is my attempt to share what I learn in my journey to a kitchen full of health and love. I hope you'll join me!
We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons. ~Alfred E. Newman
